Discovering music worth discovering.
Unexpected Frequency started because I kept finding music I couldn't stop thinking about and had no one to tell. So I made a place for it. Based in the SF Bay Area, the site is focused on experimental, indie, and rock artists who are making something genuinely interesting.
When I feature a track, I go all in. It gets a write-up on the site, a spot on our Spotify playlists, and gets shared across X, Instagram, YouTube, Threads, and Facebook. The whole point is that one feature should actually mean something for an artist.
There's also years of live music writing on here. Jazz clubs, festivals, weird one-off shows in small rooms. I think seeing someone play live tells you more about them than anything else.
